Agromedicine – A total of 12 students from the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Jember officially took the young doctor’s oath at the 2nd period graduation ceremony of the Undergraduate Medical Study Program for the 2024/2025 academic year. The event, held on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, was solemnly witnessed by faculty leaders, department heads, study program heads, laboratory heads, and the entire academic community. This ceremony marks a significant milestone for students as they prepare to enter the professional stage as young doctors.
The graduation event was conducted in a hybrid format, combining in-person attendance at the Faculty of Medicine Auditorium with online access, allowing parents who could not attend in person to still participate. This hybrid arrangement enabled families to watch the ceremony in real-time, sharing in the pride and joy of this special day.
After the young doctors took their oath, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Jember, Dr. dr. Ulfa Elfiah, M.Kes., Sp.BP-RE., Subsp.L.B.L.(K), delivered a speech. She expressed her appreciation to the students for successfully completing their academic stage and reminded them of the challenges ahead in the professional phase. “The professional stage is a crucial time to apply the knowledge you have gained; make this experience a true learning opportunity,” the Dean advised in her remarks.
The young doctors’ oath-taking was a solemn moment, as the soon-to-be doctors recited their pledge in front of faculty leaders and their parents. This oath symbolizes their commitment to upholding the responsibilities and ethical duties of the medical profession with dedication and integrity.
Following the graduation ceremony, a briefing session was held for students and their parents to prepare them for the professional stage. In this session, Vice Dean I, dr. Ida Srisurani, and the Head of the Professional Study Program, dr. Yuli Hermansyah, provided essential information on the schedule, procedures, and challenges the students would encounter during their hospital-based professional training. The goal of this briefing was to ensure that both students and parents were well-prepared for this critical phase of medical education.
Laboratory heads and lecturers also shared their messages and hopes, encouraging the young doctors to continue refining their clinical and interpersonal skills. “Experience in the field will be your greatest teacher. Don’t be afraid to learn from every mistake and challenge,” one of the lecturers emphasized.
The graduation and briefing concluded with optimism and high expectations for the future of these young doctors. With the support of their families, faculty, and the academic community, these students are anticipated to successfully navigate the professional stage and become competent, well-rounded doctors.
