Agromedicine – The Faculty of Medicine, University of Jember (FK UNEJ), has officially opened the Specialist Program in Anesthesiology and Intensive Care. This achievement marks joyful news for the academic community of FK UNEJ and represents an important milestone in the development of medical specialist education in Indonesia, particularly in the eastern Java region.
The official approval for the opening of the Specialist Program in Anesthesiology and Intensive Care was granted following the issuance of a formal decree by the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, Decree Number 1179/B/O/2025. This decree confirms the government’s recognition of FK UNEJ’s readiness to conduct specialist medical education in the field of anesthesiology and intensive care.
With the issuance of this ministerial decree, FK UNEJ has expanded its portfolio of specialist education programs by adding a highly strategic and essential discipline. The Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Specialist Program is expected to produce competent, professional, and highly skilled specialists who are capable of addressing the increasing demands of perioperative services and intensive care medicine.
The opening of this program also signifies the addition of a second specialist program at FK UNEJ. Previously, FK UNEJ has successfully operated the Specialist Program in Surgery, which has been running well and has made a significant contribution to the development of qualified medical specialists.
The establishment of the Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Specialist Program is the result of a long and rigorous preparation process. This process included the fulfillment of academic requirements, development of facilities and infrastructure, availability of qualified human resources, and strong collaboration with affiliated teaching hospitals.
FK UNEJ extends its sincere appreciation and gratitude to the Rector of the University of Jember and the entire university leadership for their full support throughout the proposal and evaluation process. Their commitment has played a vital role in strengthening the capacity of FK UNEJ to develop specialist medical education.
