Agromedis – The Faculty of Medicine, University of Jember (FK UNEJ), welcomed a benchmarking visit from Universitas Muhammadiyah Jember (UNMUH Jember) as part of the preparation for establishing a Faculty of Medicine at UNMUH Jember. The activity took place in the International Meeting Room of FK UNEJ on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, as part of efforts to strengthen inter-university collaboration in medical education.

The visit aimed to obtain a comprehensive overview of the processes involved in establishing, managing, and developing a Faculty of Medicine as implemented by FK UNEJ. Through this benchmarking activity, UNMUH Jember sought to learn best practices and gain insights from FK UNEJ’s experience as an institution with an established track record in medical education.

The UNMUH Jember delegation was led directly by the Rector of UNMUH Jember Dr. Hanafi, M.Pd., accompanied by the Vice Rector I Dr. Bagus Setya Rintyarna, M.Kom., Vice Rector II Ns. Sasmiyanto, S.Kep., M.Kes., and the task force team for the establishment of the Faculty of Medicine at UNMUH Jember. The presence of the university’s top leadership reflected UNMUH Jember’s strong commitment to establishing a high-quality Faculty of Medicine in accordance with applicable regulations.

The delegation was warmly received by the Dean of FK UNEJ Dr. dr. Ulfa Elfiah, M.Kes., Sp.BP-RE., Subsp.LBL(K)., together with the Vice Dean I, Vice Dean II, and Vice Dean III. Also in attendance were representatives from the Medical Education Unit (MEU), the Quality Assurance Group (GPM), the Head of Administration, and the Heads of Study Programs within FK UNEJ.

During the meeting, FK UNEJ presented its institutional profile, the history of the faculty’s establishment, organizational structure, quality assurance system, as well as governance of education, research, and community service. Discussions also covered the readiness of human resources, facilities and infrastructure, and strategies for meeting medical education accreditation standards.

The discussion proceeded interactively, focusing on the stages of establishing a Faculty of Medicine, compliance with regulatory requirements, and challenges encountered in the implementation of medical education. The FK UNEJ team also shared experiences related to curriculum management, student evaluation systems, and the development of networks with teaching hospitals.

Through this forum, both institutions agreed to establish a strategic partnership to support the establishment of the Faculty of Medicine at UNMUH Jember. FK UNEJ was officially designated as the mentor institution for the establishment of the Faculty of Medicine at UNMUH Jember, providing academic and institutional guidance as needed.

As a follow-up to this agreement, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was formally signed between FK UNEJ and UNMUH Jember. The MoU serves as the formal foundation for collaboration in education, research, and human resource development.

The Dean of FK UNEJ expressed appreciation for the trust placed in FK UNEJ by UNMUH Jember as a mentoring partner. He expressed hope that this collaboration would make a tangible contribution to the development of high-quality medical education and help address the need for medical professionals in the Jember region and surrounding areas.

Through this benchmarking activity and the signing of the MoU, it is expected that the synergy between FK UNEJ and UNMUH Jember will continue sustainably. This collaboration represents a strategic step toward strengthening the medical education ecosystem and improving the quality of healthcare services through the development of excellent educational institutions.
