Agromedicine – Another proud achievement has been attained by students of Faculty of Medicine, University of Jember through the Medical Assistance Team Student Organization (TBM) Vertex. The delegation team successfully secured 1st place in the prestigious MerCup XIII emergency medical skills competition, themed *BLACKOUT (Basic Lifesaving Aid & Crisis Knowledge in Outage Tactical Operations)*. The event was held from May 15–17, 2026, and organized by TBM Meridien Faculty of Medicine and Health, Muhammadiyah University of Jakarta.

MerCup XIII served as a platform for developing students’ competencies in emergency medical response and disaster management. The competition brought together medical assistance teams from various health science institutions across Indonesia to compete in a series of challenges involving emergency simulations, medical response skills, and rapid decision-making in crisis situations.

The TBM Vertex delegation from FK UNEJ demonstrated outstanding performance from the very beginning of the competition. With thorough preparation and strong teamwork, the participants showcased excellent medical skills at every assessment station prepared by the committee. The team successfully handled various challenges, including victim management, evacuation procedures, resuscitation, and disaster response scenarios.

The BLACKOUT theme emphasized participants’ abilities to provide first aid and medical treatment in crisis situations with limited resources and challenging emergency conditions. Through realistic and high-pressure simulations, each team was required to demonstrate precise medical actions, effective communication, and critical thinking skills in the field.

Winning 1st place reflects the quality and dedication of TBM Vertex FK UNEJ in continuously improving its members’ competencies in emergency medicine. Beyond being a competition, the event also provided valuable experiences for students to strengthen practical skills relevant to medical practice and disaster response.

The head of the TBM Vertex FK UNEJ delegation expressed gratitude and pride for the achievement earned by the team. According to the representative, the victory was the result of intensive training, discipline, and full support from all members and supervisors throughout the preparation period.

The representative also stated that participating in MerCup XIII provided many valuable lessons, particularly in handling emergency simulations that required composure, accurate decision-making, and strong team coordination. The entire team hopes this accomplishment will motivate them to continue growing and contributing to humanitarian activities and public health services.

This achievement also received appreciation from the leadership of FK UNEJ, who expressed pride in the students’ success at the national-level competition. The accomplishment of TBM Vertex reflects the spirit of FK UNEJ students who are active, competitive, and highly capable not only in academics but also in practical medical skills in the field.

Through various competitions and community service activities, TBM Vertex FK UNEJ continues to demonstrate its commitment to producing students who are responsive, professional, and possess a strong humanitarian spirit. Participation in MerCup XIII also represents an effort to enhance the quality of medical students in facing future healthcare and disaster-related challenges.

By winning 1st place at MerCup XIII, TBM Vertex FK UNEJ is expected to continue maintaining its achievements while inspiring other students to actively develop their competencies. This accomplishment is also a source of pride for the entire FK UNEJ community and further strengthens the presence of FK UNEJ students in national-level medical skills competitions.
