Agromedis – The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Jember (FK UNEJ), once again demonstrated its commitment to enhancing the quality of education by organizing a Global Lecture Exchange Program held over three days, from May 15 to 17, 2024. The event took place at the FK UNEJ auditorium and was attended by lecturers, students, and invited guests from various faculties.
This program is part of an academic collaboration between FK UNEJ and San Pedro College Philippines, aimed at enriching academic perspectives and strengthening international networks. The event featured dr. Benjamin James D. Caspillo, a medical expert from San Pedro College Philippines, as the keynote speaker. Dr. Caspillo shared his extensive knowledge on various medical topics, providing globally relevant perspectives for the participants.
The event began with opening remarks by the Dean of FK UNEJ, dr. Ulfa Elfiah, who expressed her enthusiasm for the program. “The Global Lecture Exchange Program is a tangible manifestation of our efforts to continuously improve the quality of education at FK UNEJ. This collaboration with San Pedro College Philippines is expected to broaden the horizons of both students and lecturers, while also strengthening inter-institutional relationships,” she stated.
Following the Dean’s remarks, the program was officially opened by the Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation, and Information Systems of Universitas Jember, Prof. Bambang Kuswandi. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of international collaboration in education. “This partnership is a strategic step in addressing global challenges in healthcare. I hope this program will inspire the development of similar initiatives in the future,” he said.
Throughout the three-day program, a series of interactive and in-depth lecture sessions were conducted. Dr. Benjamin James D. Caspillo delivered presentations on the latest developments in medical science, including healthcare technology, tropical disease management, and innovations in medical services. Participants actively engaged in discussions and Q&A sessions, creating a dynamic and enthusiastic learning atmosphere.
In addition to delivering lectures, Dr. Caspillo also conducted consultation and mentoring sessions for students interested in pursuing studies or careers abroad. This added significant value for participants, particularly in understanding the opportunities and challenges in the international arena.
At the conclusion of the event, the Dean of FK UNEJ, dr. Ulfa Elfiah, expressed her gratitude to Dr. Caspillo and San Pedro College Philippines for the collaboration. She hopes that similar initiatives will continue in the future to further strengthen FK UNEJ’s academic capacity. “This program not only enriches knowledge but also opens opportunities for future collaborations,” she added.
Both lecturers and students expressed their appreciation for the program, noting that they gained valuable knowledge and meaningful experiences. Some students even expressed interest in participating in student exchange programs at San Pedro College Philippines.
The Global Lecture Exchange Program is expected to serve as a model for the development of other academic programs at FK UNEJ and as an initial step toward expanding Universitas Jember’s international network. Through strong partnerships with international institutions, FK UNEJ remains committed to improving educational quality and contributing significantly to the advancement of healthcare.
