Agromedicine – The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Jember (FK UNEJ) once again organized a guest lecture themed “Hematology and Oncology” at the Avicenna Building Auditorium on March 18, 2025. The event featured two FK UNEJ alumni as keynote speakers: dr. Atika Purnama Sari, Sp.PD., KHOM., and dr. Lukman Oktadianto, Sp.A.(K). The lecture was attended by Block 16 students who are currently studying related topics, as well as faculty members of FK UNEJ.
This guest lecture aimed to enrich students’ understanding of hematological and oncological diseases, particularly in terms of diagnosis and clinical management. By inviting alumni as speakers, the event also served as an inspirational platform for students to learn from the career journeys of FK UNEJ graduates who have achieved success in their respective fields.

As the first speaker, dr. Atika Purnama Sari, Sp.PD., KHOM., delivered a presentation on “Multiple Myeloma and Myelodysplastic Syndrome.” She elaborated on the pathophysiology, clinical manifestations, and current therapeutic approaches in managing these conditions. Students showed great enthusiasm during the discussion session, particularly regarding the rapid advancements in targeted therapies.
The second session was presented by dr. Lukman Oktadianto, Sp.A.(K), who discussed “Leukemia and Apoptosis in Children.” He explained the role of apoptosis in blood cell regulation and how disruptions in this process can contribute to the development of leukemia. This topic drew significant attention from students due to its relevance to clinical cases frequently encountered in practice.
The session was moderated by dr. Dion Krismashogi Dharmawan, M.Si., M.Ked.Klin., Sp.A., also an FK UNEJ alumnus. As the moderator, he effectively guided the discussion, ensuring smooth interaction between the speakers and participants while fostering an insightful learning atmosphere.
Students highly appreciated the opportunity to engage directly with experienced experts in hematology and oncology. They gained clearer insights into the challenges and latest developments in the diagnosis and treatment of blood disorders and cancer.
In her remarks, the Dean of FK UNEJ expressed hope that guest lectures like this would continue to be held regularly. Such initiatives enable students to learn directly from practitioners actively involved in the medical field, while also strengthening the relationship between alumni and their alma mater.
With the success of this event, FK UNEJ once again demonstrates its commitment to delivering high-quality medical education that remains relevant to the latest developments in medical science. It is hoped that this activity will serve as a foundation for students to deepen their understanding of hematology and oncology, while also motivating them to pursue careers as professional doctors in the future.
