Agromedicine – The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Jember (FK UNEJ) held the final scientific seminar in its 25th Dies Natalis Seminar Series, carrying the theme Emergency Management. The event was conducted in a hybrid format on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at the Avicenna Building Auditorium of FK UNEJ and via an online platform, enabling broad participation from students, alumni, and healthcare practitioners across various regions.

The seminar was officially opened by the Dean of FK UNEJ, Dr. dr. Ulfa Elfiah, M.Kes., Sp.BP-RE., Subsp.L.B.L.(K). In her remarks, she emphasized that the seminar is part of FK UNEJ’s ongoing efforts to enhance the knowledge and skills of its academic community while strengthening connections with alumni who are actively contributing to the medical field.

“Emergency management is a crucial competency for every healthcare professional. Through this seminar, we learn directly from alumni who have excelled in their respective fields. This reflects FK UNEJ’s commitment to producing competent and responsive doctors,” stated Dr. Ulfa Elfiah.

This seminar was particularly special as all speakers were FK UNEJ alumni who currently hold strategic positions in the medical field. The session was moderated by dr. Taufiq Gemawan, M.Ked.Klin., Sp.An., an alumnus who is now practicing as an anesthesiologist.

The first session was delivered by dr. Fahriansyah Mega Pratama, M.Ked.Klin., Sp.B., who presented “Acute Abdomen: Practical Approach and Management.” In his presentation, he discussed a systematic approach to managing acute abdomen cases, including diagnostic strategies and timely, appropriate medical interventions.

The second session was presented by dr. Fajar Perdhana, SpAn-TI, Subsp. An.Kv.(K), Subsp. T.I.(K), a lecturer and practitioner from the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Airlangga, Surabaya. He delivered a topic titled “The Role of Haemodynamic Monitoring in Emergency Settings,” emphasizing the importance of hemodynamic monitoring in managing critically ill patients to prevent complications and improve prognosis.

Participants showed high enthusiasm throughout the seminar, actively engaging in interactive discussions and raising questions related to emergency cases commonly encountered in primary and secondary healthcare settings.

The event received positive appreciation from students, lecturers, and alumni, as it served as an academic platform that bridged theory, practice, and real-world experience from the speakers. It also reflected a strong collaborative spirit between the institution and its alumni in supporting academic development and medical professionalism.

This seminar marked the closing of the 25th Dies Natalis series of FK UNEJ, which had previously featured various scientific activities, community service programs, and health promotion initiatives. The successful implementation of this seminar reflects FK UNEJ’s commitment to delivering adaptive and forward-looking medical education.

Through this event, the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Jember reaffirms its role not only in producing medical graduates but also in advancing scientific knowledge and enhancing medical capacity through impactful academic initiatives for the wider community.
