Agromedis – The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Jember (FK UNEJ), continues to expand its network of strategic collaborations in the field of research and medical science development. On Thursday, July 17, 2025, FK UNEJ, together with the Vice Rector for General Affairs and Finance of Universitas Jember and the team, conducted a working visit to Stem Cell and Cancer Research (SCCR) Indonesia, located in Semarang. This activity also marked the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between FK UNEJ and SCCR Indonesia.

This visit represents a concrete step by FK UNEJ in supporting its vision as a center of excellence in agromedicine-based research, while also strengthening national synergy in the development of science and technology, particularly in the fields of stem cell therapy and cancer treatment. The MoU covers the enhancement of research collaboration, human resource capacity development, and the utilization of research facilities and laboratories.

The FK UNEJ delegation was led by the Dean of FK UNEJ, Dr. dr. Ulfa Elfiah, M.Kes., Sp.BP-RE., Subsp. L.B.L.(K), and was warmly welcomed by the leadership of SCCR Indonesia, Prof. Dr. dr. Agung Putra, M.Si.Med., along with their team of researchers. In her remarks, Dr. Ulfa emphasized the importance of this collaboration as a manifestation of FK UNEJ’s commitment to strengthening academic and applied research networks, particularly in addressing the challenges of degenerative diseases and cancer in Indonesia.

During the visit, the FK UNEJ delegation had the opportunity to tour several of SCCR Indonesia’s flagship facilities, including the Agung Putra Laboratory and the Animal Model Research Center, a research facility dedicated to animal models that supports experimental studies in regenerative therapy and oncology. At this facility, the delegation received detailed explanations regarding the development of animal models and their critical role in validating stem cell therapies.

In addition, the delegation visited Karenina Agung Resort & Farm, which is an integral part of SCCR Indonesia’s ecosystem in supporting the balance between scientific research and a holistic approach to health. At this location, the FK UNEJ team explored the potential for developing natural-based products and post-therapy recovery programs integrated with environmental and psychosocial approaches.

The Vice Rector for General Affairs and Finance of Universitas Jember, Prof. Dr. drg. Sri Hernawati, M.Kes., expressed full support for FK UNEJ’s efforts in establishing strategic partnerships aimed at advancing leading and innovative research. She emphasized that Universitas Jember will continue to promote institutional quality improvement through relevant and sustainable national and international collaborations.

Meanwhile, SCCR Indonesia welcomed the collaboration and expressed hope that this synergy will lead to significant breakthroughs in healthcare, particularly in stem cell-based therapies. They also conveyed their readiness to support research and training activities involving lecturers, students, and laboratory personnel from FK UNEJ.

This collaboration is expected not only to strengthen FK UNEJ’s position as an academic institution with strong applied research capabilities but also to provide tangible contributions to the advancement of medical science and public healthcare services, especially in the management of cancer and degenerative diseases.

Through this partnership, FK UNEJ reaffirms its commitment to becoming a pioneer in the development of medical research based on local excellence and strategic partnerships, in line with Universitas Jember’s vision of becoming a leading university grounded in agromedicine.
